I was born in the beautiful southern town of Summerville, SC near Charleston. I have always been a creative girl. From the time I can remember, I have been experimenting with paints, crayons, and clay. My parents, Archie and Sue Holling always encouraged my creative side. Telling me I could be whatever I wanted to be. An artist was my goal!
Although I took a detour through the Marketing and Advertising world for about 35 years, Art was always in my heart.
It has just been the past 12 years that I have taken a serious interest in clay sculpture. For 8 of these years I studied under Clay Master, Chase Winfield in Charlotte, NC. Once my education with him was complete, it was off to the clay studio for me!
Because I specialize in Animals, most of my works are commissioned pieces, the subjects being wildlife and pets.
Throughout the last 10 years I have done 100s of clay creations that now find homes in America, Canada, Germany, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.
I currently give in-person classes at Eightlegs Gallery in Waxhaw, NC and have a class series called
"Sip & Sculpt" at local wine bars and breweries. You can check out my "Clay Classes with Laura" page for my current schedule. They are a hoot!
I am a guest Artist at The ArtBox Summer Art Camps for Children and Teens in Waxhaw, NC where I teach clay sculpture to budding artists.
I give "Sculpt Your Poodle" Clay Classes at the Poodle Club of America International Dog Show each year.
Look for much more from me...
my story is not over.
